Ways to meet with the Business Programs Advisor

In-Person

TUESDAYS ONLY (from August 15 – May 15 annually)

Building 250, Room 446

From 1:00 - 4:00 PM

  • DROP-IN appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • CHECK the calendar for availability as the Business Programs Advisor will be available between May 16 - August 15 for bookings during this time

Students can self-book an appointment to see Sharon through the Work-Integrated Learning portal called the Experience Hub.  When on the Hub,  

  1. Find and click on the Faculty of Management
  2. Click on BBA Advising
  3. Click on BBA Advising Appointment.
  4. Find a date and time that works for you and book it.

Booked appointments are all 30-minute phone or Teams appointments.

There are no booked appointments available on Tuesdays.

Please note:

  • A VIU student account is required to use this service. 
  • Please use your VIU student account credentials to login.
  • Once you have logged in using the single sign on, you should be able to locate the Faculty of Management (FOM) and then the BBA Advisor.  

After initially creating your VIU computer account, there may be a delay in accessing VIU student services up to 24 hours.

Through your student record please complete the following prior to using Experience Hub:

  1. Log into your Student Record...
  2. In the left pane, click on Personal Information, then VIU Computer and VIULearn Account.
  3. Enter the required fields.
  4. Read the statement and click the I understand button once only to create a new student account (or change the password if one already exists).

The Undergraduate Business Programs Advisor provides advising for students in the Bachelor of Business Administration, and is the Program Advisor for the BBA embedded Business Administration Diploma, and the Certificate in Business Management Program.

If you are a student in one of the above programs, you may seek support and guidance to:

  • Help you learn how to use the Goal Planning System (GPS) to monitor your degree progress.
  • Discuss questions related to which BBA majors you can pursue, course options and requirements for each.
  • Discuss your courses choices.
  • BBA students nearing completion of their 1st and 2nd year requirements and ready to declare their major meet with Sharon prior to the next set of course registrations to get “goal coded” and access to reserved seats.
  • Talk through details regarding the BBA Matrix.
  • Learn about elective requirements and make choices.
  • Discuss how your transfer credits apply to your credential.
  • Learn how credits earned in an international exchange can apply to your program.
  • Answer questions concerning Senior Project and Internship.
  • Provide graduation information.
  • Graduating students who are making final plans to complete the Certificate in Business Management, the Diploma in Business Administration, or the BBA Degree should email Sharon Kelly to ensure that all their requirements for their credential have been met.
  • Discuss needs and issues and refer you to other resources at VIU as indicated.
